Instant Pot Mulled Wine or Gluhwein
4-6 servings
Mulled wine is warm, cozy, and can be made easily in an Instant Pot. Easy to whip up right before a party or make it well beforehand and reheat before your ready to serve it.
Ingredients
- ½ teaspoon black peppercorns
- 1 star anise
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- ½ tsp cloves
- 1 apple, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon whole cloves
- 1 orange, juiced
- 1 orange sliced
- 1 bottle full-bodied red wine, such as Syrah, Rioja, or Malbec
- 1 cup brandy
- ½ – ¾ cup sugar
- Ground nutmeg, garnish
Instructions
Put all ingredients except nutmeg in your Instant Pot and cook on high pressure for three minutes.
Let your Instant Pot do a natural release.
Stir the mixture gently and then pour the mixture through a sieve.
Serve your mulled wine in mugs and garnish with a half slice of orange.
Apple Cider
6-8 servings
While not a traditional pressed apple cider, this quick concoction can fill the role quite well. Use this by itself or as an ingredient in a warm winter cocktail.
Ingredients
- 8 medium apples (Gala, Honeycrisp, Jazz)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp cloves
- water to cover the fruit (6-8 cups of water)
Instructions
Quarter the apples and put in the instant pot. Add the rest of the ingredients and cover with the water. You want the water to just cover the apples, so adjust the quantity accordingly. 4-6 cups should do it without any issues.
Set the Instant Pot to high pressure for 15 minutes and allow for a natural release.
Thoroughly mash the apples to release all the juices and strain the mixture with a sieve.
Serve warm or chilled.
